  Speaking as someone who works for a (different) chain of gas stations...it's not a gas rip off if you didn't watch the pump. You're supposed to stay outside of your vehicle when fueling (and that sign IS on the pump). You had a mechanical failure. Mechanical failures happen. Then you yelled at a cashier who's working Christmas Eve who just tried to diffuse the situation any way possible even though your stupidity was at fault. She's also probably not allowed to put a sign on the pump without talking to her manager who she's not going to call on Christmas Eve.
